True Care Veterinary Hospital offers basic reproductive services to pet breeders, as well as spay and neuter surgical procedures for responsible non-breeding pet owners. Dr. Tullio is experienced at surgical interventions in managing complex deliveries, such as performing caesarean sections.
Breeding soundness can be assessed with a physical exam, evaluating males for reproductive readiness; scrotal size, shape, and consistency; sperm motility and morphology; penis shape and size; body condition; and overall health.
Our general fitness exam for potential breeding females is recommended, as well, including assessment of reproductive readiness, optimum diet, reproductive organ health, and overall vigor.
Reproductive Ultrasound Technology
Pregnancy diagnosis by ultrasound has several advantages, including:
- Pregnancy diagnosed early in gestation
- Twins more precisely diagnosed
- Information about fetal health and viability
Ultrasound technology has the added benefits of being non-invasive, generally comfortable for the patient, safe throughout gestation, and relatively low in cost, making it an excellent tool for both veterinarian and breeder.
Additional diagnostic tools include vaginal cytology and on-site veterinary laboratory for rapid results with greater accuracy.
Ask a True Care veterinarian about the use of the following services:
- Semen collection and evaluation

- Vaginal insemination
- Artificial insemination using fresh, fresh-chilled, and frozen semen
